A toast to Alan Moore!

If I could just take a moment here to make a toast! To a man that influenced me a lot in kicking off this smutty drawings empire. His name is Alan Moore. You may have heard of him, if not let me fill you in...

Simply put, Alan Moore is one of the greatest living legends in comics and graphic novel writing, with a career spanning decades and several different genres. His voice is singular and distinct, and his works will stand the test of time as the best of the best. His 12-part series “Watchmen,” compiled into a single volume, became the bestselling comic of all time, making Time’s “All-Time 100 Greatest Novels” list. It was the first ever graphic novel, or Big Expensive Comic as Mr. Moore prefers them to be called, to be included in this list.

Alan Moore once said, “My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.” A concept shared by GentlemenComics - where our comics try to imitate real life! Here at Gentlemen Comics our motto is a simple one: Comics for men, not boys. This means our titles are mature by design, and meant to appeal to those looking for something sexier from the world of comics.

One of Moore's more recent and memorable titles is an oversized graphic novel called Lost Girls. Starring the grown-up versions of young women from classic fairy tales, Lost Girls signified one of Moore's greatest accomplishments. It is arousing, erotic, and titillating and yet it's also an accomplished work of art that begs for several re-readings and examinations. With it's release, he pushed for the legitimization of pornographic and erotic content in comics. That's where we here at Gentlemen Comics are hoping to come in. We believe you deserve more from your adult entertainment than the majority of what's out there, and are dedicated in giving it to you.

Moore's stance is adult entertainment can have as much artistic merit as any other genre if done properly, and Gentlemen Comics is proof that he was right! So we raise our glasses to the man that has inspired many and inspired us....*clink!* - Gary Cockerell
